Welcome to our school’s website, which we hope you will find helpful and will provide you with a wealth of information about our school.

It has been almost 16 years that I have had the privilege to lead this wonderful school. During that time there have been many exciting challenges and as a school we have seen much change. Our school motto, Learning and Growing Together is as relevant today, as it was when it was chosen in 2001 by the newly formed school council of the newly amalgamated Wattville Primary School.

We are a school proud of our heritage in the heart of Handsworth. How appropriate that our school name comes from one of the pioneering industrial revolutionists, James Watt, a man of Science and invention who embodied a desire for learning and changing the world for a better future. We aim to foster attributes of curiosity and perseverance in our pupils, and help them to see that each and every one of us has skills, knowledge and abilities to offer.

We are blessed by the rich diversity of our pupils’ cultural and social heritage and see this as a real strength for the school. We strive to provide our pupils with a curriculum and a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities that will equip them for the future. We pride ourselves on engaging with our school community and sharing their life-long journey of learning, preparing our pupils for the next stage of their education and beyond.

Yesterday year 5 performed their Easter assembly which will be available on our YouTube channel later on, and today is our annual Easter Egg competition. It is being judged and announced over the two assemblies held today. Have a look at WPS News for updates.

Safer Internet Day 2017 - 7th February 2017

Following today’s briefing with our wonderful parents and guardians, (thank you all so much for attending) I have added a new page to the menu on the left just for home IT help with securing your children’s online accounts.
